The quiz nites all began in February 2003, when we performed our first quiz night at The Jolly Sailor Pub in Davenport. At that time, not known to the venue, this was are first, and only quiz night, with years of DJ experience and the commitment to ensuring great customer service and enjoyment we set about making our quizzes the best.

We started by cutting out pictures from newspapers and magazines for our ten round picture quiz, we then took questions from published quiz books and trivia pursuit question cards to make a twenty question quiz.

We started are first jackpot game which was open the box, this was not very succesful so we changed it for a more poular and easier to run game which was Play Your Cards Right.

In May 2003, Vince, the manager of The Moss Trooper pub in Timperley came to see the quiz at our venue on the recommendation of Jeanette, The Jolly Sailors landlady. He then invited us to start a trial at the moss trooper on a tuesday night, this is when we thought 'Hey we must be doing something right'

Quiz Development: Trial & Error

We found that although customers were enjoying the quiz, it was over far to quickly, we visited other quiz nights to see if we could develop any of their features into ours, most of them were doing what we did so that didn't really help. We then came across a company which provided game sheets of dingbats, anagrams and the like which we thought would be very useful, as the quality of the picture quiz was starting to lack. We introduced these gamesheets to the quiz teams and the response was amazing.

However it still lacked content, the exact history would be too long for an 'about us' page however as a summary we added games like 'Prediction' , 'Challenge Simon', 'Guess The Envelopes' 'Low's The Winner' 'Whats that noise' plus much more.

We then decided that we wanted to include more rounds into the quiz, this caused a time problem, mainly because the quiz teams did not have time to mark them as they were doing the rest of the quiz, where as the assistant could not mark them due to the increased number of entries we were getting.

At the peak of the quiz nights we were achieving 35-40 teams entering in any one night, we then decided something had to be done, so we developed a computer programme which made things alot easier for the quiz assistant and allowed us to add more rounds into the quiz.

We have since reprogrammed the programme to add extra features such as the quiz league, web bonus marks and a more easier to follow marking and answer system.

We now have 8 rounds and aim to add to the quiz with a unique 'novelty track' question time, we also aim in the near future to be able to produce in-depth reports which will be available to quiz teams which will break down their performance in greater detail to the other teams. In 2006, the Jolly Sailor went to tenancy which meant the new tenants carried out the quiz, and cancelled all entertainment with our company and used other entertainment. It was a shame to leave the Jolly as most of the entertainment from Awards Nights, 70's Fancy Dress nights even a 6-month to christmas day party was performed by our company, however good things come to an end.

We now have two nights at the Elizabethan, another quiz night at the Dog & Partridge and we still perform weekly at the Moss Trooper.

We appreciate that we are only where we are now, thanks to our customers which is why we listen to every customers view and their suggestions, we regret that we may not be able to action every suggestion this could be for a number of reasons, but where we can we will.

We now have a customer survey section, as well as giving customers to vote on certain issues which affects the quiz. We hope that all our customers enjoy their quiz night and will continue to come back again and again.
