Quiz Host Role

A Quiz Host with Aquarius Quiz Nites is a primary and key role within our organisation, as front line staff you must be friendly, confident and professional in every duty you carry out.

The quiz host is responsible for encouraging teams to participate in the quiz, explain the rules of the quiz and of course read out the questions and answers.

This is by no means the end of the quiz hosts duties, you will also be responsible for conflict resolution, handling complaints, staff supervision, venue management liason, general customer service, rig set-up and quiz marking (if you have no assistant).

The Quiz Host must be able to perform all the duties of a Quiz Assistant, as firstly at the venues which have a quiz assistant they are to supervise and ensure the work is been done correctly and to a high and accurate standard, and for smaller venues, where the quiz host is the only person present then they must take on the roles of the quiz assistan simutanously to the roles of quiz host.

Therefore, if you want an accurate description of the duties of a Quiz Host, you should read the duties below as well as the duties of a quiz assistant.

• Assist in setting up the equipment needed for the quiz.
• Perform a sound check to ensure music levels and microphone levels are ok.
• Welcome quiz teams to the venue, and encourage them to take part in the quiz
• Open the quiz at 9pm, guiding them through the main quiz rules.

• Ask the quiz questions for each round
• Read out the answer for each round
• Encourage sales in PYCR
• Host the PYCR game according to our rules
• Answer any customer queries/complaints and refer them to the necessary path for resolution, if resolution not possible on the night.
• Ensure the cash has been calculated, backed and secured as to company procedures.
• Arrange payment by the venue or where appropriate has ensured the venue has signed the invoice ready for us to forward to head office.
• Supervise and assist the assistant as required
• Assist in packing up the equipment as required.

From time to time the company may bring in new features, new games, new quizzes or provide you with marketing that will need to be displayed either on walls or the tables in the form of either laminates or table tents. This will become a duty of both the assistant and host as required.

Renumeration

As with all out roles, each member of staff will be taken on for a training period, of 12 quiz nights, during which time they will receive training and experience of assisting with the running of our quizzes. During the training period, each assistant/host shall be paid hourly at minimum wage.

After training is complete, the assistant role pays an hourly rate of (Minimum Wage + £4 Per Hour), so as an example the assistant rate is currently £9.93 per hour (If you are 22+)

Each year we raise your wage by £1 per hour, for service, upto a maximum of £5. From time to time we will also award bonuses, incentive schemes and other ways to increase your take home pay.
